PHOENIX – Today, the Log Cabin Republicans of Phoenix announced its Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse Merissa Hamilton in the City of Phoenix Mayoral election. This is the first of several endorsements the conservative LGBT group plans to announce this election cycle. It marks the first endorsement from the chapter since the organization’s launch in August.
“Our Board is proud to give our first endorsement as an official Log Cabin Republicans chapter to Merissa Hamilton, who has supported our effort from the beginning,” said Devin Slayton, president of the Log Cabin Republicans of Phoenix. “We applaud her commitment to diversity and inclusion of all Phoenicians as she seeks to bring much-needed improvements to the City of Phoenix.”
Hamilton is a business professional with over 19 years of leadership experience in the supply chain, food service, retail, grocery, and technology industries. She led national committees to create data standards transforming food safety and improving public health. With a strong commitment to helping her community, her work for over a decade has focused on helping women in crisis pregnancies, families victim to domestic violence, children in child welfare scenarios, and helping Arizonans experiencing homelessness find permanency.
She led efforts at the Arizona Legislature and the City of Phoenix in Councilman Sal DiCiccio’s office to reform zoning laws to solve the crisis of working veterans experiencing homelessness and allow for the construction of affordable tiny home communities. As Chair of the Arizona Legislature sub-committee on Policing, she led a state-wide community policing reform model with Tucson, Tempe, and Goodyear Police Departments.
Hamilton is running for Mayor to bring smarter solutions to Phoenix. Her focus is on making Phoenix safe, protecting small businesses, fighting against City corruption, and bringing manufacturing and innovation back to Phoenix.
“I am humbled and honored to receive the first endorsement as an official chapter in Phoenix of the valiant Log Cabin Republicans,” said Merissa Hamilton, who’s running to unseat Kate Gallego as Phoenix mayor. “LCR Phoenix shares my commitment to building a stronger City with smarter solutions, creating a foundational culture of inclusion for all where every person is essential. I look forward to our continued partnership as we fight to eliminate corruption at City Hall while embracing equality and liberty for all.”
