Is Log Cabin Republicans of Phoenix a social or activist organization? What is the focus of the events and meetings?
The answer is both. LCR Phoenix provides a friendly environment for like-minded gays and lesbians to socialize and discuss their views as conservatives. Secondly, LCR Phoenix hosts both current office holders and candidates who share their stance on issues, soliciting the LGBT vote. We also support and promote Republican candidates that support our conservative views.
Is LCR Phoenix just for gay men? What about lesbians or bisexual men and women?
LCR Phoenix is built on a diverse membership made up of gays, lesbians and bisexuals. We also have straight friends who participate in our events. We pride ourselves on both the diversity in age and ethnicity.
I live in the suburbs, are all events in central Phoenix?
The membership of LCR Phoenix spans the valley with members not only in Phoenix but throughout the metro area including Scottsdale, Surprise, Chandler, Tempe and almost every city in the area. We schedule events throughout the valley to be considerate and inclusive of where our members live.
A lot of events for LCR Phoenix are at bars, breweries or restaurants, but I don't drink alcohol.
We have many events at bars, breweries and restaurants for logistical reasons, not to promote drinking. We also make use of hotels, bowling alleys, parks and member's homes for events. Many of our members do not drink alcohol and still partake in great conversations and comradery.
Is there a membership level for students?
Currently we do not have a special membership tier for students but our "President's Club" level membership costs only $45 annually.
